Dr. Welsh graduated from McNeese State University , Lake Charles, Louisiana. He graduated from the Louisiana State University Medical School in New Orleans, Louisiana, where he went on to do his Obstetrics and Gynecology Residency.

Dr. Welsh is Board Certified by the American College of Obstetrics & Gynecology, a member of the American Medical Association and the North Carolina Medical Society.
